Text-to-GIF prompt recipes (start pose → action → return)

Nov 3, 2026GIF Labs

Prompt patterns that produce seamless looping GIFs: clear start pose, one action, still camera. Remix examples in GIF Labs AI GIF.

Text-to-GIF works best when the prompt reads like a tiny stage direction—not a novel. The model needs a pose to leave and a pose to come home to.

The loop recipe

  1. Subject + setting — who and where, in one breath.
  2. Start pose — hands, gaze, prop position.
  3. One action — lift, blink, wave, hop—not five plot twists.
  4. Return — explicitly say it returns to the starting pose.
  5. Camera — “fixed camera”, “seamless loop”, “no text, no logos”.

Recipe A — prop lift

A little character in a winter coat stands in a snowy forest at dusk, holding a glowing lantern at chest height. They slowly lift the lantern, look up and blink, then lower it back to the starting pose. Keep the lantern in their hands and the camera still. Make the motion loop smoothly.

Why it works: start and end match; motion is readable in under two seconds.

Recipe B — micro idle

A white rooster faces the camera on a grey tiled floor against a solid blue wall. It subtly breathes and shifts its weight with wings slightly open, then returns to the starting pose. Photoreal studio lighting, fixed camera, seamless loop, no text, no logos.

Why it works: almost still—perfect for stickers and “alive portrait” vibes.

Recipe C — quiet twitch

A fluffy rabbit sits on the trunk of a vintage pink car in front of a yellow wall. It gently twitches its ears and head, then settles back. Fixed camera, seamless loop, no text, no logos.

Why it works: one micro-motion, strong silhouette, easy to remix colors/props.

Common failure modes

  • Long stories with cuts (“then they walk to town…”).
  • Moving cameras that fight the loop.
  • Readable text or logos in the scene.
  • Multiple competing actions in one cycle.

Paste a recipe into AI GIF, pick Fast for drafts or Detail for cleaner motion, and iterate on the action line—not the whole world. Browse Gallery for live loops you can remix.

Try it

Open AI GIF, start from Recipe B or C, and change only the subject while keeping the start → action → return skeleton.
